yajñe tapasi dāne cha sthitiḥ sad iti chochyate
karma chaiva tad-arthīyaṁ sad ity evābhidhīyate

yajñe—in sacrifice; tapasi—in penance; dāne—in charity; cha—and; sthitiḥ—established in steadiness; sat—the syllable Sat; iti—thus; cha—and; uchyate—is pronounced; karma—action; cha—and; eva—indeed; tat-arthīyam—for such purposes; sat—the syllable Sat; iti—thus; eva—indeed; abhidhīyate—is described

BG 17.26-27: The word “Sat” means eternal existence and goodness. O Arjun, it is also used to describe an auspicious action. Being established in the performance of sacrifice, penance, and charity, is also described by the word “Sat.” And so any act for such purposes is named “Sat.”

Satyanarayan Puja is a Hindu religious ritual dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also known as Satyanarayana. Described in the Skanda Purana, a medieval Sanskrit text, this puja involves a recitation of the Satyanarayana Katha (story) which highlights the spiritual and worldly benefits of performing the ritual. The narrative emphasizes the importance of fulfilling promises made to God and recounts tales of those who neglected their vows. This puja is often performed during auspicious occasions and is a symbol of gratitude and reverence in the Hindu faith.

Sankashti Chaturthi, also known as Sankatahara Chaturthi, is a Hindu observance dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It occurs every lunar month on the fourth day after the full moon (Krishna Paksha). Devotees observe a strict fast, breaking it at night after moonrise with prayers to Ganesha. The significance increases if this Chaturthi falls on a Tuesday, known as Angaraki Sankashti Chaturthi, believed to be especially auspicious. Each month’s Sankashti Chaturthi involves worshiping Ganesha with a different name and peeta (seat), accompanied by specific Vrata Kathas (stories).
